”We Are Dust – A Tribute To Of The Wand And The Moon” is a tribute album honoring the music of Danish neofolk/dark folk act Of The Wand And The Moon, and the man behind the music – Kim Larsen.

Kim Larsen formed Of The Wand & The Moon in 1998, while a member of doom metal band Saturnus. The debut album “Nighttime Nightrhymes” was released in 1999, and in 2000 Larsen left Saturnus to fully focus on Of The Wand And The Moon. Since then, the project released several influential albums such as “Emptiness Emptiness Emptiness” (2001), “Lucifer” (2003), “Sonnenheim” (2005), “The Lone Descent” (2011) and “Your Love Can’t Hold This Wreath Of Sorrow” (2021) as well as several EP’s, singles and live-releases.

Of The Wand And The Moon started as a pure neofolk/dark folk act continuing the legacy from legendary “apocalyptic folk” acts such as Death In June, Sol Invictus and Current 93, but with a unique sound. This unique approach to dark music quickly turned Of The Wand And The Moon into one of the biggest and most respected “new” acts in the scene. On later albums, Kim Larsen and Of The Wand And The Moon slowly drifted towards a more deeper singer/songwriter inspired song tradition, but maintain the melancholic and dark trademark sound from earlier albums.

“We Are Dust – A Tribute to Of The Wand And The Moon” is the effort of friends, collaborators, and admirers of Larsen’s work. The artists presented here would count Larsen as significantly influential to their impetus to contribute to the world of song, and despite varying availability and schedules, jumped at the opportunity to contribute to this release.

“We Are Dust” features interpretations of Of The Wand And The Moon songs from the following international acts:

KING DUDE (US), IN RUIN feat. KATI RÁN (US/Holland), NIGHT PROFOUND (Canada), OSI AND THE JUPITER (US), AWEN (US), BLOOD AND SUN (US), DIE WEISSE ROSE (Denmark), CROOKED MOUTH (Canada/Lithuania), BY THE SPIRITS (Poland), SOLBLOT (Sweden), INMOST DESCENT (US) and CRADLE OF JUDAH (US).

Pre-orders for “We Are Dust – A Tribute To Of The Wand And The Moon” begin September 23, 2022 with physical copies of the album (limited edition vinyl) arriving in January 2023.

“We Are Dust – A Tribute To Of The Wand And The Moon” will be released and distributed by Moondrop Records on LP and digital. Release date will be in January 2023

  2. We are pleased to finally present to you:
    EN DRÖMMARE ÄR DÖD
    Mini album

    https://solblot.bandcamp.com/album/en-dr-mmare-r-d-d

    Press release:
Solblot’s acoustic neofolk sounds like something from older times, and from a different Sweden. Their sepia-toned folk punk is underlined in their live performances, where the band is dressed in folk costumes of their own design.
While their debut LP “För Mig Finns Ingen Väg Från Hemmets Dörr” (2012) was based on the poems of the national romantic poet and nobleman Verner von Heidenstam, this time Solblot have looked at “folkhemmet” from a different angle.
On their new EP “En drömmare är död” Solblot have immersed themselves in the works of the proletarian poet Dan Andersson. Andersson is much loved in Sweden for his portrayal of ordinary people, his nature mysticism and deep sense of the spiritual life. A recurring theme throughout his body of work is the fiddler both as a symbol of Dan Andersson himself as a free artist and of art itself.
The record is a gloomy but celebratory work on the death of dreams and the artist who refuses to compromise in his art or in his life. A reminder that we are all mortal but also that art prevails.
The release of “En drömmare är död” marks the 100th anniversary of Dan Andersson’s death on the 16th of September 1920.

Det är med viss stolthet vi äntligen kan presentera:
    EN DRÖMMARE ÄR DÖD
    Mini-album

    https://solblot.bandcamp.com/album/en-dr-mmare-r-d-d

    Pressrelease:

  4. “As summer draws its last dying breath, time is ripe for reflection on the light that has been and the darkness to come. What could be more apt than some beautifully introspective neofolk from some of Europe’s finest? We had a quick talk to our friends Solblot about the new compilation Rites Ov Summer.”

    Release date: early march

The long awaited and highly anticipated first album from Swedish folk band Solblot has finally seen the light of day. Despite working at a glacial pace, having been formed in 2003 and until now having only released one single in 2007, Solblot is a band with a dedicated cult following, thanks to a few select and spectacular live performances.
Solblot’s unique brand of neofolk is based on traditional Scandinavian folk and Swedish progressive rock, with a slight touch of the experimental. The songs are simple, melodic and catchy, with a punky edge and an organic, rough production. Their lyrics, sung in Swedish, are appropriated from the Nobel laureate and idealistic national romanticist Verner von Heidenstam (1859-1940). Nostalgic, romantic hymns of an idealised Sweden, which never existed except as a dream.
Featuring: Kim Larsen (:Of the Wand and the Moon:, Solanaceae), Niels Rønne (:Of the Wand and the Moon:), Stefan Otto (Nebelung), Anne Eltard (:Of the Wand and the Moon:, Solanaceae) and Petter Lindgård (The Mopeds, session work for Tom Jones, Roxette, The Cardigans among others).
Available both as CD and LP.
The CD includes a 16-page booklet with full colour photos.
The LP includes an 18cm x 24cm cardprint.
The black vinyl is limited to 400 copies and the yellow vinyl to 100 copies.
